The Big City

The rain clackety-clacked off our tin roofed van most of the night while we slept safe and dry inside. Today we finally made it to Charlotte but first a side trip to Banner Elk, NC to visit Laura’s home for a year back in 1994 when she was a VISTA volunteer (Volunteers in Service to America.)

We braved Charlotte traffic, and, while Laura and Deborah caught up, I took the van down the road to Griffin Brothers for an oil change and a check-up. In the waiting room, I got caught up on General Hospital: Ava says she’s pregnant with Sonny’s baby (I think she’s faking it). Carly and Ava confront each other and threaten to kill one another before Sonny steps in. Unfortunately the van was ready before I could see what happened.

  1. If soaps are like they used to be, you could have left the van in the shop for five years and still not know what happened. Ah yes, there is always room for some mystery in one’s life.
